  1. I've been having a problem today where all programs I open (Virtual Dub, FitCD, etc.) crash and shut down when I select an avi to open. I don't know what caused this or how and if I can remedy the situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of AVI? Does it do it with all AVIs? Does it do it with MPGs also? Have you ran the AVI through AVIcodec or Gspot to try to check it?

Been installing any codec packs lately?
Run Showshifter, trial will do - this will detect/fix any codec problems.

  6. I did install a bunch of updates for my PC yesterday, including windows media player 10, windows SP 2, invision latest build, and the latest winamp....

I'm going install and run showshifter and see if it works.

  7. Ok, I ran Showshifter and it told me the DVD audio would interfere with that program, so it disabled it. It still does not solve my problem of any video-related program automatically shutting down though.
