  1. I've got a few xvid's...
The problem is when I play them on my computer...
The sound is VERY low - barely hearable.
On my PC, the sound will be on max!
Every other sound on the PC will be load and clear - but not the xvid.

When played in my divx DVD player... the sound is fine.

How can I fix the problem so that the sound is OK on my PC?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  2. I used to have an AC-3 audio codec that had it's own volume control and it came configured at -20 dB. So I had the same problem, files with AC-3 audio were barely audible. One day while digging through my audio codecs for something else I noticed the AC-3 volume setting and changed it to 0 dB. It played at normal volume levels after that.

I don't have that AC-3 codec anymore but here's how you can get to the setting:

Go to the Control Panel and select Sounds and Audio Devices. Go to the Hardware tab. Select AUdio Codecs and press Properties. Switch to the Properties tab, select the AC-3 Codec, and press the Properties button. On that dialog there may be a Settings button -- press it and look for a volume control.

  3. Oh, I have Vigovsky Alexander's AC-3 filter now and it has a configuration option under Start -> All Programs --> AC3filter --> AC3filter Config.
