transcoding?

Hi, i'm Currently using Nero vision Express to convert MPG video/audio to DVD. The Transcoding takes about 3-4 hours. Using Ulead DVD movie factory takes twice that!
Is ther a way to transcode faster?
I'm currently merging two MPG's which have video & audio, putting chapters in & then transcoding & burning with Nero. Generally the DVD's are turning out fine but hust wondered if there was a quicker way to do it & how?

are the mpgs dvd compliant? then author and after dvd shrink it.

I haven't a clue, nero play's them fine & chapters them etc, it just seems to take a long time transcoding them to vob files.

use avicodec to check the video properties and post them here. you can also just try import the mpgs in a good authoring tool like tmpgenc dvd author and it will report it they are dvd compliant.
