Hi Guys
When I backed up a dual layer movie using only dvd shrink and nero6, I created a disc that was playable in 10 dvd drives and players that I tested it in.
When I did the same backup but used dvd decrypter and nero it only worked in 5 of the 10 drives.
I backed them up on verbatim dl discs.
Does dvd shrink program burn any different to decrypter?
I did'nt burn with decrypter as such but I created an iso and then opened nero and selected burn image to disc. But looking at the burn pattern under the discs the patterns are totally different!
Anyone have any ideas?

Why would you rip with decrypter and then burn with Nero? Decrypter has its own burn engine. I wonder if it doesn't have something to do with bitsetting.

I'm kinda thinking thats where the problem is as I did'nt burn with decrypter, just nero.
When I used dvd shrink the dual layer discs played on everything I threw at it including drives that aren't supposed to read +r's or dual layers.
Is dvd shrink good enough to use by itself? As it does everything rip, encode, burn!
Why do people use both shrink and decrypter together?
And If I use decrypter to rip the movie files to the hard drive as files not an iso, how do I burn the files to disc? Does decrypter do this or do I do it with nero?
Thanks for your answers guys -
You only need to use decrypter if shrink doesn't decrypt it. Look through the help and it will tell you to use decrypter if shrink alone doesn't work.

Shrink does not burn by itself. It can use either Nero or Decrypter to burn. Some use decrypter to rip instead of shrink because they think it is faster at ripping or less susciptible to disk errors. I haven't found either to be true.

Shrink does too burn, I just did it today. You must have an old version or something.

I suspect that the people who use decrypter to rip instead of Shrink have setups where the processor can transcode faster than their ripper can rip. If this is the case, shrink would transcode faster by reading from the HD. Shrink in a sense is slower at ripping becasue of the initial analysis when you load the disk for the first time. I have also used decrypter when I have had scratches because you can select ignore read errors.
