  1. Okay ... History. ... I have a +R burner.

I used to author DVD's in Ulead DVD Workshop. When I exported them to a folder on my hard disk, it took forever due to it re-encoding my MPEG2's.

Okay, I have my VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders on my hard drive. I burn it in Nero as a UDF/ISO. I am able to play it on the dvd player at work just fine.

I am not introduced to Adobe Encore where once I encode it with ProCoder, I don't have to transcode it in Encore...no more waiting for Ulead to re-encode it.

So I export my DVD project in Encore to a Folder as well ... but this time, only a VIDEO_TS.

NOW, tricky part. I cannot get these DVD's to play on my player at work nor other players that used to read these DVD's.

ALSO, I had switched DVD+R's from Verbatim (2.4x speed) to Memorex (4x speed) ... and I don't know if all of these transistions happened at once or what?

I even tried burning at a 2.4x on my Memorex instead of a 4x. Still no go. Is it because of my medium, my not having an AUDIO_TS empty folder or Encore is not exporting right ... or should I use TMPGen instead of ProCoder?

Of all those possibilities, I have no idea when this problem happened ... we had sent out many DVD's and I JUST now noticed this problem

HELP !!! What am I doing wrong? If I left out any information, just ask ... I think I said all that was necessary.

Thanks and sorry for the long post,

You can test if a missing audio_ts folder is the cause by creating one. This folder is empty anyway, but some players expect it to be there. Nero actually creates an empty folder for you by default if the DVD Video template is used.

  4. Yea, I'm using the same settings on Nero ... UDF/ISO.

And I am using Adobe Encore 1.5 which I believe is the latest.

  5. Problem Solved !

Okay, I just burned the DVD inside Adobe Encore instead of creating an image file or a VIDEO_TS folder.

    Hmmm ... strange.

DVD Dycrypter only makes a Video folder just run the Video folder through DVD Shrink it's free ware and when shrinking off the harddrive it only takes 15 minutes.

I think Power Producer also only make Video folder and I run it through DVD Shrink and I have a ISO that works.

You can run it through Nero Recode but that take like an hour at least. I like DVD Shrink way better.

The Audio is in the Video folder jsut process it again with a progam that make image files.

Burning from DVD folders is always less compatible the burning from Image files.

Stand alone player like the DVD wrappers.

Same with VCD Most players won't alway all of the features of the player unless they have a proper VCD SVCD or DVD wrapper.

folders and files work on some player but usually not as good as images. The wrappers definately help.

My PC can player partial burn coasters, but my player spits that shit out. Unless you have a player ROBUST enough to player Partial Burn Coasters, you better wrapup the DVD folders as Image files.

Not exactly true. An image file is basically a no-compression zip file of your AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. If you were to say that some people experience issues burning DVD Folders using Nero, and making an image file and burning with DVDDecrypter can often help, then you'd be closer to the mark, but side by side, it makes no difference whatsoever to the compatibility AFAIK.
    If in doubt, Google it.
