I purchased a TRENDnet KVM switch from newegg.com. The problem I am having is on 1 pc the video quality sucks, the text is a little blurry and hard on the eyesight. The other pc the video is fine with no blurry text. Has anyone used KVM switches before and have any problems with it? I'm using a 15 inch. Viewsonic LCD. I have a ATI 9200 on the 3.0C ghz pc and a ATI generic brand 7000 on the 2.4 ghz pc. Do you think the brand & type of video card would make a difference with a KVM switch? I wouldn't think so because the 2.4ghz pc was using the 15 in LCD monitor fine until I hooked up the KVM switch. I'd appreciate any comments on this topic.

Depends on the OS. IF XP try right clikcing on the desktop and selecting properties, then settings tab, then the advanced button. Then goto the monitor tab and make sure the Refresh is set to 60hertz. Its slower but alot more compatible with some KVMs.

Also if your an LCD 60h is about all thats used anyway if I understand correctly.

Thanks for replying to my post! I have windows 2000 pro on both pc's. I just checked the monitor tab and it is set to 60 hertz. I already took off the KVM switch. If you're saying that 60hertz is the most that I can set it at then maybe I should return it for a refund since the text and everything else is fuzzy. Any other suggestions?

Well try it with 60hertz, its enough for most uses anyway. I have an old monitor around that still ONLY does 60hertz.

If it still doesn't clear up I'd take it back. The fact that your using an LCD means AFAIK that anything above 60hertz doesn't actually help you anyway.

Newegg.com will be giving me a refund since it's not compatible with my computers. Anyone know of a good quality brand for a KVM Switch? Newegg has a Linksys one for $34.99:

I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks in advance!

I use a pretty generic one I got at Fry's one of my computers with an LCD messed up on it until I set it down the 60hertz, which I still wish you had tried.

If you concerned with true quality the only way to go is Belkin.

I should have mentioned that the LCD was already set to 60hertz and it was still blurry as hell for one of the computers but the other computer was fine. I'll try out the Belkin from Compusa since the cost of the Linksys one would be about the same price because of the shipping cost to Hawaii. Thanks for the reply.
