  1. yesterday i ripped lilo & stitch and atlantis, both are region 1 dvds, and i encountered some strange problems.

lilo & stitch ripped fine (movie only), no playback problems with apple dvd player or vlc, problem accured when i started the burn in toast 6.0.7. after the hitting the "burn" button i got a error message that there wasn't enough memory left. i used another blank dvd-r and i get the same result. ok, let's do a restart and try again but the problem stayed.

then i tried dvdbackup 1.3 and ripped the film again and voila, toast had no problems at all.

atlantis i ripped with mtr in movie mode too and no problems showed up while ripping. but when i checked the film with apple dvd player it simply didn't wanted to start the playback. same was with vlc.
i re-ripped the film with dvdbackup 1.3 and then it worked just fine.

i think mtr has some problems with movie only ripping on disney films since this was the first time i had this problem or it's just mtr 2.0.2

i hope this info helps for a fix

Movie only ripping in MTR has problems period. We're trying to find solutions for that. What about Full Disc mode in MTR? That should work the same as DVDBackup. Let me know if it doesn't, as that would be critical.

i re-ript atlantis via full disc incl. dvd-rom and this time the apple dvd player had no problems. so there is a problem in movie only mode as you said.

  4. AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
\THE PROBLEM WITH 'MEMORY ERROR' IS IN TOAST!!!!!!!!

if you rip in movie only mode , and try to burn the resultant VTS folder in toast it will error... TOAST LOOKS FOR A COMPLETE SET OF VTS .IFO's IN THE NEW VTS FOLDER THAT YOU ARE BURNING... IF ITS NOT IN THERE , IT WILL REPORT A MEMORY ERROR AND FAIL... to prove it , rip the movie in movie only again , then copy all the missing VTS.IFO's from the disk , and drop into TOAST. toast will then burn the disk...

It Roxios method to stop people from ripping disks by 'FILE STRIPPING' to reduce the disk size.

Just to let you know , toast reads the VIDEO_TS.IFO and looks to see what other files it must references , if they are not in the folder == 'MEMORY ERROR ( 108 i think )...

Running the MTR output from Main Feature mode through DVD2OneX film mode will also fix this problem.

  7. I've gotten that memory error in Toast, too, with files ripped with MTR.

One quick solution, for those people comfortable using Terminal, is to run TOCGEN on the VIDEO_TS folder to create new VIDEO_TS.IFO and BUP files.

Works every time, and faster than reprocessing through DTOX.

Strange, tocgen is what we use to create the VTS.IFO and BUP files in the first place... What version of tocgen are you using, and what's the exact command you use to generate the files?

  9. I think You have to run IFOGEN first, then TOCGEN on VIDEO_TS folder...

  10. I leave the VTS* files intact, including the .ifo file for that set.

Some might think that because my suggested fix was a Terminal command, I actually know something about what I'm doing. In truth, I have no idea how to figure out which version of TOCGEN I use -- it just works. If anyone posts instructions (I can't figure out how to get TOCGEN to list its available parameters) I'll figure out the version.

I open Terminal and change to my current directory by typing "CD" then drag the target folder (the VIDEO_TS folder with the ripped/processed files) out of Finder into the Terminal window. Hit Return. Note: it doesn't actually move the folder, it just saves me having to type in the full path.

Then I type "tocgen" and again drag the folder name into Terminal. Hit Return.

Voila, a new pair of VIDEO_TS.IFO and .BUP files.

Do you know where you got the copy of tocgen you're using?

  12. It's likely that I popped it out of the contents of FFMPEGX a year or two ago. Couldn't tell you which version of that, though. Ages ago.

When I did a Finder search for TOCGEN, nothing came up, otherwise I'd just email you the file...
