I have created a couple of Divx movies from DVD using Divx version 5 and 4 using DVDx and the movies seem too dark. Is there some setting needing changing? I have used this program before but don't remember it being dark.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Well I never had that happen when I used dvdx. Why don't you try virtualdub?? Or you could rip the dvd and then use virtualdubmpeg2 to make a divx movie.

---you could always try uninstalling dvdx and reloading it to see if that might clear it up---

  3. What you're seeing is probably normal. Computer monitors have a much lower gamma than television. That means the picture will look darker on a computer.

You could brighten the picture before you encode, but then it will be too bright and washed out if you ever watch it on a TV. A better solution is to leave the Divx file the way it is and use a player which allows you to turn up the brightness.

I found it was my monitor that was too dark. Stupid me. I adjusted it and it looks better.

    Thanks.
