well the cheapest way i know is to buy and install an ATI Tv-Wonder Tv-Tuner. Its only 65.00 at buy.com. Are you using NTSC or PAL, i think the Tv-Wonder is only NTSC. I may be wrong.

adamthole,
These three (aprox $79 / $49 / $59~$99). . .
. . .Come to mind:
1 - AT-TV Wonder (pci card)
--- captures in real-time MPEG1 only (you be the judge)
--- captures only to AVI (need big Min. 20g. HARD DRIVE)
--- AVI: encode to SVCD (or VCD) and you have a nice quality
--- MPEG, using the right settings during encode (TMPG or CCE)
2 - WinTV GO (pci card)
--- captures only to AVI (need big Min. 20g. HARD DRIVE)
--- AVI: encode to SVCD (or VCD) and you have a nice quality
--- MPEG, using the right settings during encode (TMPG or CCE)
3 - DC10+ (pci card) (can find for $59, else $99)
--- captures only to AVI via MJPEG - (need big Min. 15g. HD)
--- AVI: encode to SVCD (or VCD) and you have a nice quality
--- MPEG, using the right settings during encode (TMPG or CCE)
--- slight color range issues w/ this one: 16-235 vs. 0-255 range
Make sure no conflics.
Good Luck!
I have some Samples here!
