  1. i hate epson. strong words i know, i've only owned one epson - the horrid c41ux. Took it apart last night, and took that 2 white waste pads out. They were absolutely soaked with ink. I'm on my 2nd colour catridge, and 3rd black one. I was really bewildered to find that those pads were soaked, and why i wasn't getting many pages out of the ink. especially the black one. I only print cd size covers for my dvd's, and they are not full size, and not photo quality, just normal inkjet paper quality. I got 7 covers out of the black one. Although, with every print, every couple of days, i'd have to clean the ink heads about 2 - 3 times. This printer truly sucks.

Now the fun bit is when i put the nice clean white pads back in, and done a couple of print tests without the cover.

Its truly amazing the amount of ink that gets shot thought that waste tube out the back.

    actually its thoroughly disgusting.

epson cartridges always "run out" before they are empty.

Here is my theory, epson has programmed this printer to waste most of the ink (every time you turn it on, off, and before and after every print job the ink gets squirted around the back), so that sooner or later the waste ink pads are full, the printer jams, and you have to take it to a certified "epson" repair place. They charge you bucket loads, and say you need new cartridges. And, they say that you haven't been using genuine epson inks - so the warranty is voided, so its a lot more you have to pay.

the ink cartridges in this printer will be the last that printer will ever see, before it sees a silver steel axe head slicing through it.

I will never buy epson again. I'm looking for a printer that has the printer heads built in to the cartridge. Or at the very least, one that can be removed easily from the printer and can be cleaned, and a printer that certianly doesn't waste 28% of its black ink after you've first installed it, and printer 2 small test areas.

so far hewlett packard has my deal

Its not the cartridges itself, it is epson printers in general that suck and waste ur ink so that you have to buy more (from epson). I am looking into the cannon i3000 over in europe to ship back to the usa.
