  1. I'm new to this, I need some help burning my "backup" VIDEO_TS file I copied from a DVD. Most of the DVDs I backup on my computer are about 7GB, but I need to compress the VIDEO_TS file, good quality with working menus, down to around 4GB so I can burn it to a DVD.

    How do I do this? What's the best program, or can it be done on a mac?

    If you are absolutely new to all of this your first step should be to go to the frame at the left and go to the GUIDES and READ. Once you have read the Howto's and have specific questions Post them. There are so many different ways to do this and so many programs, Read and find one that looks interesting to you and then try using it and ask all the questions you want when you have problems or something isn't quite clear. I am sure we all went through it and I for one am still finding new programs and ways.

  3. Thanks for the response, but I have already looked through the other posts/forums and couldn't find one that answered my specific problem.

    I could've missed the appropriate posting, so if anyone knows of one, please list it in a reply.

    Otherwise, any recommendations (best programs, file format, etc.) would be gratly appreciated.

  5. Those links were pretty general, I didn't find a solution to my problem.

    USING A MAC, does anyone have any advice for compressing a 7GB VIDEO_TS folder onto a 4.5GB DVD???

    I tried using ffmpegX, but I couldn't get it to work, the setting were too complicated.

    If you want an easy way that preserves the menus and whatnot, it's going to cost you. Rip the DVD, apparently you've done that, then compress with DVD2oneX or DVDRemaster. You might want to checkout;

    Basically you do the same thing you do with any other brand of computer.
    I prefer DVD2oneX.

  7. Thanks, I tried DVD2oneX and it was very easy to use, with great quality compression.

    When I tested the DVD on my computer afterwards I couldn't get the menu to work. Is there a way to enable that option when I burn my DVD?
