  1. I downloaded a mkv file, and googled quite a bit, but I've yet to find a utility that can take this and convert it to something I can burn and play on a dvd player.

I did find a program to play it on the pc, but I want to make a playable dvd from it.

    Help?

if you have installed matroska you should be able to convert with tmpgenc.

just search for mkv and you will get lots of tips like this

and PLEASE don't post CONVERTING in the dvd author forum.

  5. Thanks for the assist.. but if you don't have a dvd image already and are converting one to make a dvd image, aren't you authoring a new one?

Where should a post like this actually belong?

(This looked like the only real forum topic that "fit"...)

I didn't install thsi format.. it's an image I was given a link to for an old obsure movie that isn't available in any form. The original author was kind enough to grab it for me, but he only uses his PC to play images he creates, and had no idea what I'd need to use to make a normal viewable copy for a standalone player.
