You mention "pictures". If you are referring to stills then you might want to look into memoriesontv. It can pan and scan and zoom (the Ken Burns effect)
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space.

I don't use studio 9, but I'm surprised that it can't do it. Certainly Premiere or Vegas are more than capable of doing this. According the specifications, Studio 9 can import image files usch as bmp, jpg, tga etc. Perhaps you need to investigate more about what you can do with these ? In other editing programs you would be looking for motion paths or a similar term.

You can output the finished video from memoriesontv. Why not look at it to do the photos, and then incorporate the finished clips into studio for editing with the video ?
Sometimes it is better to use best of breed software, than go for the jack of all trades approach.

"ONLY IN STUDIO PLUS! Sensational imaging effects
Turn still images into animated slideshows. Zoom in and out of pictures and move the camera across them: it's a unique way to add animation to photo slideshows. You can even rotate your photos and remove red eyes! "

Looks like you have to pony up for the Studio Plus 9 upgrade to get this functionality with Pinnacle! See Pinnacle's site for details.

Otherwise you'll need to go with a third party plugin/standalone solution.

I just got my Studio Plus two weeks ago. It is only a $29.00 upgrade and the pan and scan works just fine. It also allows you to do a "picture in picture" effect and it has a "chroma key" which allows you to superimpose yourself or someone else on top of another video. Definitely worth the money.

Having said that, I also have Memories on TV and it is much quicker and easier to use to get the pan and scan effect on slideshows. Right now I am in the middle of a slideshow project using Studio 9 Plus. I have to click on each individual picture (138 of them) and choose the amount of zoom, the amount of movement, where the picture starts, and where the picture ends. I am too far into it to start over but if I had known what a pain in the ass this was going to be I would have just used Memories on TV and I would have been done already.

With Memories on TV you just load the pictures, load the music, and allow the program to batch pan and scan the whole slideshow.

I plan on using the picture in picture and the chroma key in Studio 9 Plus. I will also use the pan and scan again (on a much smaller slideshow) so I reiterate, it's worth the $29.00...but it's not the best program available for slideshows.

    Just my two cents worth.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, Ulead VideoStudio 8 has the pan and
scan capability but I usually use Photodex ProShow Gold to animate
my stills. I take the mpeg2 file and just drop it into Ulead VS8.

Check out the 'Tools' section for ratings and comments on the pan and zoom software.

  14. i read the reviews and the the product specs.....it seems like it is a big plus for only an extra $30 bucks........
    a couple of questions.......
in studio plus is it stable as the the studio 9.1 or whatever the upgrade is at now......and is the Chroma key is that difficult to do......and does the plus have any audio extras........if they add a RMS normalizer.....i think we have a winner

I have it for you! A free program that will do Ken Burns Effects! Slide Show Movie Maker will do Ken Burns effects, and many other things. It is very flexible so that you can create the exactly right slideshow. It takes some getting used to at first but really produces greate results!
Just ask if you want specific instructions on it.

  16. Just as a matter of interest Arcsoft's Showbiz DVD2 does a simple but kickass job of creating slideshows with pan & zoom.
