  1. Hello. I wanted to know if there is a way to encode just a short piece of a movie. I wanted to encode a clip that is only about 2 minutes long from a dvd. And I wanted to use Auto Gordian Knot. The only thing is that if I use Auto GK, then that means that I will have to do the whole movie which could take about 5 to 6 hours when i don't want the whole movie. Then I would cut out the 2 minutes that I want. Is there any way to do this with Auto GK? Thanks.

  3. You can try another DVD ripper (not familiar with Gordian Knot). Most will allow you to rip a single chapter which shouldn't take long. Then load that VOB into DVD2AVI and save the project. Load the resulting D2V file into TMPGEnc and encode only what you want from the chapter using the 'Source Range' filter.

I'm sure there's a guide out there to guide you through it. Look for instructions on DVD2AVI to export your audio and get the video settings right.
    Happy to be here.

  4. Open the .VOB containing the section you want in DVD2AVI. Select the section you want (using the bar at the bottom) and go to File --> Save Project. Make sure audio processing is set to Demux. Feed the resulting .AC3 and .D2V into Gordian Knot, and it will encode only that small section.

  5. guy, it seems that it is simple with Xilisoft DVD Ripper. you need to choose "Encode Segment" in File menu, then enter the beginning time and the duration of the song. For example, you want a clip from 00:20:20 to 00:35:00, you should enter From 00:20:20 and the Length is 00:14:40.
