whats the best tool for converting *.avi *.asf,*.wmv to mpeg

I use All Video Joiner which you can find at www.zealotsoft.net

It will allow you to join multiple, and even different formats and convert to mpg, etc ... however if you just select the one file you want to convert, it will do it as well... great lil app.

for avi (best is subject to opinion), a freeware product offered at www.filmmachine.com or www.thefilmachine.com is pretty nice.
