The movie with Art Carney called St. Helens was pretty good. The story of the old guy who refused to leave. Special effects were very cheesey but the actual real footage they used was cool.

Is The VolcanoCam Broken? Part I
The new VolcanoCam offers a much better color quality than the old VolcanoCam. However, in low light and no light conditions, the camera is often unable to compensate for such conditions and produces random colors, similar to a television tuned to a non-existent channel.

There is nothing wrong with the VolcanoCam or the image. This image was taken at 4:09 am PDT, on September 28, 2004. Sunrise did not occur until 6:04 am PDT.

That and the fact that half of the WORLD is clicking on this webcam...I'm surprised we even get to a website..

I've experienced several earthquakes here in California and it's awesome...except the time my apartment was demolished.
These volcano thrillseekers are like reporters on the beach during a hurricane...stupid.

I say let 'em. They want to sit on the rim of the volcano until it erupts ...cool 8) They might get some bitchin live footage for the rest of us ....until their short and exciting lives end abruptly

    Hello,

That's only if they have live transmitters. The poor dopes who were hoping to dub it to vhs or dvd will be out of luck!!

Well then maybe all the scientists watching the volcano through telescopes can get an idea of the energy yield from the trajectories all these thrill-seekers' bodies take at the moment of explosion

    The might as well.

I was reminded of the scene from Fat Man and Little Boy when Oppenheimer was in the blockhouse right before the Trinity test of July 1945. One scientist, I forget which, dropped a scrap of paper at the moment of detonation, hoping to gauge the bomb's yield by the displacement of the paper on its path to the floor.

I had images of dozens of thrillseekers catapulted thousands of feet by the blast, and some scientist a mile away with a telescope scribbling numbers on a pad, tracking the bodies.

It's actually a very easy physics equation to get the energy from the mass and displacement. Every Physics 101 student remembers launching a steel ball bearing across the room, being given values like spring constant, mass, etc., and successfully predicting the landing spot of the ball
