Right now, I am at the end of my tether.
I bought a DVD burner a few weeks ago, and thought it as simple as that. I used Nero to burn my movies onto dvd, but not once have I managed to burn them.
My original movies were in wmv format and I knew they had to be in mpeg so I imported them into NeroVision Express as a new movie. I thought that would be ok that they would be coverted into whatever format automatically in order for them to burn onto DVD.
Having tried that and it didnt work, I tried exporting them to the VOB T_S or watever format to be recognised to burn to dvd but all I came up with was mpeg or avi.
Please help wat am I doing wrong?
Can anyone recommend an easy-to-understand authorising software to burn movies (even in wmv or other formats apart from the mpeg format?)
thankyou thankyou

No, but I can recommend starting reading the guides on the subject found left. There are many steps involved in the process that you seem completely unaware of.

Here is the "Convert to DVD" section of the guides:

...and here is a guide I would suggets you try out:

To author your DVD, here is the "Authoring a Basic DVD" section:

...and here is an authoring guide I would suggest:

You can either use the built-in DVD burner in TMPGEnc DVD Author or you can export it to a Video_TS folder and use Nero to burn it.
I know the conversion guide is for DivX to DVD but WMV should work much the same way.
Just a reminder - please try to choose a subject line relating to your question. This makes forum searching easier for other users who have the same problem. Subject lines like this also annoy some users who will then bypass your thread altogether. If you want answers faster, a relevant subject line is the way to go!
Anyway, best of luck with your conversion!

Dude,
If I had a quid for the amount of times I've been at the end of my tether with regards to all things digital video I'd be a rich little chappie.
Unfortunately i'm just a pissed off little chappie now!
As you might have guessed, converting <ANYTHING> video-wise is a pain in the arse - esp for the newbies out there who don't realise how much there is to learn!
BUT
Try WinAVI - it's a darn good newbie 'single click' type proggie & if it fails.. whatcha lost?!?!?

You should consider TMPGENC, which is probably the best encoder and its pretty self expanatory if you want it to be (just leave most of the settings as default). If you want something free, you could try BBMPeg, SVCD2DVD, or The Film Machine. I'm not sure that they import wmv so if they don't you can use Stoik Video Converter to convert them to avi, and then import. It will just take some time for you to get used to dvd burning and the steps required.
