  1. I've been folowing this guide:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/170944.php

When i get to the part (Step 3) where i need to encode the video, i got a huge output. I opened the SVCD NTSC film template, then opened unlock.mcf and selected ES (Video only). Afterward the out file was 437MB, when the orginal file was 239MB.

So, i continued and in step 4, when i was muxing the audio with
BBMPEG, i can't play the outputted file. Do i need a certain codec or something, thanks in advance.

You should be able to play both the video and audio files all the way through the different conversions. Ogg is very compact, the resulting MP2 audio will be much bigger. Check the file with AVIcodec and see what the specs are of each file.

  3. What exactly should i do with the AVIcodec program? The end result is an mpg, so i find it wierd that it won't play. Oh and something important that i should have mentioned earlier, the file will play the audio, but no video, it plays both the Japanese and English audio, but no video.

  4. I think my problem lies in TMPGenc, i can't figure out why i get a near 500MB output, when it should be close to the original file size right? I tried to lower resolution but that didn't help either.

  5. Ok, here's where I stand now. I rendered the file again in TMPenc, i lowered the bitrate, and it was about the orignal size, but i was not pleased with the quality, so that was a no-go. Oh and whenever i open an m2v in gspot and render, it always fails.

Sorry, I'm not an expert with OGM files. I have converted a few using similar methods to what you are using, though to DVD.

The ones I've seen are XVID video and it is very compact compared to MPEG. Doubling in size would not be unusual. Also OGG audio is one of the more compact audio formats.

AVIcodec is similar to Gspot in that you can identify the components of a video file, such as framerate, audio and video size, along with the codecs that will play it. It's usually the first thing I do with a unknown video file to see what I'm working with.

If you check the running time of your original file, you can use a bitrate calculator (Tools- to the left) to judge the size of the resulting encoded MPG-2 file.

  7. Ok, I've solved some problems for myself, I can play the file in all stages, and I've lowered the file size to a way/quality I like. Now my problem is after muxing the audio and doing exactly as the guide says, my mpg can only play the first audio i specify, do I need a codec or something to play dual audio mpgs?
