what i want to be able to do is copy a bunch of episodic dvds to one dvd-r.

the material is 40 min episodes and i want to fit about 10 or so to a dvd-r.

i am trying to find a simple and/or all in one program to reencode/convert the episodes to 352x388 resolution pref mpeg-2 and some type of dvd format audio.

    any help would be great.

    cheers.

I don't know of a program that would do that automatically.

You have a couple of options:

Rip all the episodes you want to hard drive and then use TMPGEnc DVD Author to make the VOBS for your DVD. Unfortunately, this will probably be way oversize for a 4.3Gb DVDR, so you will need to compress with something like DVD2ONE to fit it one one DVDR. Four hours one one disk might look messy....

The other option is to convert each episode individually to VCD on DVD format. Just convert to VCD as normal but keep the audio at 48KHz. Then author the individual episodes using TMPGEnc DVD Author and burn with whatever you want.

this is basicly what i will be doing. i have done this before and by doing so i have got about 10 - 12 45min episodes on a dvd-r. i was just hoping there was a program out there that would take the dvd like dvdshrink and all the rest but rip it to the vcd on dvd format for me instead of just vcd and leave me having to change the audio back to dvd format or to emcode the eps myself with tmpeg or such. the other thing is i use tmpegenc dvd author a lot but is there ANY other dvd authoring software out there that lets you use vcd on dvd format files? i have a lot of programs for dvd authoring like adobe encore dvd and many more but they all seem to ONLY accept full resolution. is tmpegenc dvd author indeed the only program that accepts vcd on dvd format? or even mpeg 2 files at vcd resolution?

But what are the best settings one should have to have a decent looking picture when playing it on TV. For instance converting .avi divx to .mpg2 DVD...what should the overall movie size, fps?

For instance I have files that I ripped that are:

    Image
    Width: 640
    Height: 352

    Audio
    Duration: 43:25
    Bit Rate: 192kbs

    Video
    Frame rate: 23 frames/second
    Data Rate: 136kps

When converted with TMPGEnc Source Creator....will my .mpg2's be good when I burn them on DVD and watch them on my tv?

The files you quote don't look to be DVD spec, rather they are avi conversions of DVDs. Just rip the original DVD and transcode with DVD2ONE. It's much quicker than using TMPGEnc if you have the original material.
