  1. Everything video-wise is fine, so I'll just discuss the audio.

I extracted the WAV with VirtualDub, BeSweet to create the AC3, and AC3fix to make sure the file was compliant. It imports fine into DVD-lab, recognized correctly as Dolby 2.0, 48kHz, 192 Kbps.

When I compile the DVD, though, there is no audio in the resulting files, no matter what program I use to play it (WinDVD, Nero Showtime). I definately have filters installed, as I can listen to the AC3 files on their own, and I am using the latest non-beta version of DVD-lab (I tried to get the 1.4 beta, but it seems to not be available anymore). I don't have any RWs, so I dont want to waste a disc burning it to test the audio on my standalone player. Any ideas? Are there some special setting in DVD-lab I don't know about that I need to use to make it work? Thanks!!

How many clips on the DVD ? Do you have a first play clip prior to the menu ? Do you have audio on the menu ?

And now the big question - are all the audio tracks on the disk the same type - i.e. all ac3 2 channel 192khz ? The standard DVD Lab only creates a single titleset. All the audio in a titleset should be the same type to guarantee playback.

The only other thing to check is on the compile dialogue, do you have the 'force audio' box ticked ?

  4. There are two clips on the DVD, both are ac3 2 channel 192 khz.
There's no clip before the menu and there's no audio on the menu...it's a very simple DVD structure this time: one menu and two clips.

As I recall, the Force Audio button WAS checked both times I compiled.

  5. UPDATE:

I tried running the project again in DVD-lab PRO.
Starting from scratch I imported everything in, made my menu, and compiled. The ONLY options I checked were for Safe Color and Jitter.
And still, no audio in the final project.

I assume it's either a problem with my AC3 codec (though I think I wouldn't be able to play the AC3 files at all without it), OR despite my efforts to correct it, there's a problem with the AC3 file itself and DVD-lab doesn't like it.

    Any more ideas? ^_^

try using the output from BeSweet without running AC3Fix on it. I use DVD Lab with BeSweet ac3 for all my projects, I haven't had any problem with it.

    I've done the same thing you do with a different set of files, but I STILL have no audio on my computer after compiling it! Also, I tried using the latest beta of DVDlab-Pro this time. I'm getting really frustrated with this ^^;

I would not give up yet. The best place to get information on DVD Lab is the official MediaChance forums. They can be found here . . . http://www.mmbforums.com/

  12. Well, it seems that BeSweet was the problem...
as soon as I got TMPG's AC3 encoder the sound problem went away.

    EXCEPT...

Now I've got an audio lag...Over the course of a 40-minute file the audio starts in sync, but is 1-2 seconds off by the end. In addition, the AC3 files are 1-2 seconds longer than the video files.

I tried checking out DVD-Lab's forums, but there's not much help or answers about this problem, even after I posted for help there. Here's the details of my project:

I'm trying to put 3 40-minute Xvids onto one dvd. All three have the same stats

    23.976 fps
    16:9
    mp3 audio

I used VirtualDub to extract the audio, and I converted to AC3 with TMPG's AC3 encoder through DVD-Lab Pro B16/RC4.

I used TMPGEnc Plus on the video, settings as such:

    Frame Rate: 23.976 (internally 29.97)
    CBR 4600
    3:2 pulldown when playback

    Any suggestions?

  13. there where some issues posted in the old dvdlab board, but I'm not sure if that was taken down. in any case there where reported issues with the use of different bitrates from users using besweet.
I use Dvdlab and besweet, audio at 224 Kbps.
give it a try..and good luck.

  14. Your original file must have missing frames. When it is muxed it plays fine but once it is trans-muxed to DVD, there cannot be any missing frames Try PVAstrumento to fix the file.. what is the source, some DV broadcast?

  15. You can try DVD-lab Pro, I had a similar problem with the sync with 3:2 pulldown video in DVD-lab 1.3, but the latest betas of DVD-lab Pro seem to correct that. It's a 30 day trial.
