I need a little help with this player... has been running fine for about a year and I just turned it on and it boots but will not see ANY DVDs.. tried about 25 different ones and they are all manufactured, not burned... I pulled power off of it for a while and no dice.. I opened it up and realized it is a PC based player in a carriage.... is there any way to pull it apart and check for issues or is this something that is worth doing?
I have seen online that they have a tendency to do this so any advice would be great... thanks in advance...

The 402 is unique in that it has no motherboard. The video components normally found on the motherboard are internal to the IDE loader. There are so many components in the drive it's bound to go bad. I had one and it did. Most likely the laser has gone bad. You cannot replace it with a DVD-ROM because it contains the motherboard. In short buy a new DVD player.
