Quick question. Some people I know have a Breaker Pro for PS2 (import device) and there is an option in the menu for video signal, changin from PAL to NTSC. To my knowlege I wouldn't think a piece of software like this could actually do a PAL to NTSC conversion on the fly but these guys insist it does. Breaker Pro has virtually no service on their site so no reference to the option at all. Anyone have this device and know exactly what this option does?

The man to be asked is a fellow called jeex, he was very clued up on everything ps2, he unfortunately was banned from this site. I think you may still find him over at politick.org (please feel free to correct me), I think.

Nah AFAIK
That just means the disk can be used in either region but it wont change the video signals of the games that you load

It doesnt mention it in the specs but the swap magic disk has the video signal selector and I think that it is the exact same thing

Well this site specifically says that it can convert between PAL and NTSC. What good would it do to just bypass the regional protection to play a PAL disk on an American console? It'd either be in black and white or it would scroll. I would think that this disk would have to do the conversion, otherwise it's ability to play import disks would be useless in America since we don't have multi-scan televisions.
Actually converting between regions on a PS-One game is a trivial thing and could easily be done through a boot disk like this. They used to (maybe still do) release patches to convert regions of import games. The result isn't all that pretty; it just chopped off the excess pixels but the color information was maintained and it did play smoothly.
Now don't take my word for it, I am just guessing. The specs of these types of products are rarely advertised consistently. But I don't see any reason why it couldn't do some form of actual regional format conversion, and I can't think of what good it would do it if didn't. -
I know that its possible but I still think that it probably a false claim for this disk. However I dont own this disk so I cant prove it.
Ntsc\pal patches are easy enought to find though they have generic ones and some specific for lots of games. If you patch the game once you never have to worry about it again and patching is pretty straight forward
*Update It is true after checking around the ntsc\pal videomode does work with the swapmagic 3 disk so it is likely that the breaker pro will work the same way only thing though its for psone games but you can use it for dvd-rips as toc refresh for ps2 games.
I also think that there are 2 vesions of the breaker pro running around -
Thanks for the replies. I forgot I even posted here
I didn't figure it would be able to do on the fly conversion since it would be dependant on the PS2 hardware to do the work, which I didn't think would be able to keep up and play the game smoothly as well. I could be wrong though. I don't have one either. I know there are various hardware converters that do this, but I never really spotted any software types before.
