Every once in a while my screen goes BLANK....meaning the icons all go away momentarily. Then they start to come back slowly and first look like this:

Should I worry about this? Is there something I'm doing wrong to cause it to do this? For instance....I just got done burning two DVD's back to back....closed the burning program to delete the folders that contained the DVD's.....apon opening Windows Explorer....in the background it happened.....the Explorer window stayed open.
Any suggestions or am I just working too fast?

    Hech,
That happens to me too. I usually take it as a sign I'm working too hard, and take the rest of the day off

If your desktop icons ever becomes scrambled because of DOS games or whatever, I have a little app here that will keep you from ever having to click and drag icons around. It's not even an app, just a .DLL and a .Reg file. It has the directions in the zipped file:

  3. This happened to me recently, but was permanent. Icons lost all function. I couldn't even go Start > Programs > Select a program. Nada. Had to do system restore (from reboot in Safe Mode).

That means the drugs haven't started to kick in yet. I grab another cup of "Joe", and when I'm done, so are they.
    Hello.

"There are two kinds of people in the world - those that back-up, and those that wish they had" is more like it...
Oh and Cap....forgot to mention...I spent about a month in the Tempe/Phoenix area YEARS ago....in the summer. I'll never forget getting off of the plane. We had one of those ladder things...NOT at a regular airport gate. I couldn't imagine - while exiting the plane - how anyone could pay SO much for first class seats when it was SO DAMN HOT up there. Well needless to say it wasn't always that hot up there...the damn door was open. Stepping through that airplane door out into the Arizona heat was like sticking your head in an oven door....DAMN that was HOT.

That's what the saying means. Those that wish they had, will ...in the future

Phoenix is hot all right. I'm glad I don't live there. I think you were under the impression that I live there. Indolikaa lives in AZ, but not near Phoenix Not your fault. Even many US citizens need reminding that we're a state too

As far as Phoenix .. might as well build a city on the sun, to paraphrase Matthew Perry

Once they had to close the airport for a day because commercial jets were only rated for 120F - probably the tires. It was 122F that day - in the shade (for you cross-ponders, that's 50 degrees C)

Here in New Mexico it usually doesn't get above 107 or 108 max between mid-June and mid-July, but is typically 95 - 100 for those 4 weeks. On the hottest days, walking out of an air-conditioned building feels like when you open the oven door to check on a pizza - you can almost feel your eyebrows singe

Sorry....we northerners think New Mexico is identical to Arizona....SILLY SNOW PEOPLE...
I was in 113F....in the shade in Gila Bend, Arizona......that was the hottest while I was there....but it was generally FREAKING HOT the rest of the time too.. My aunt lived in Albuquerque....she absolutely LOVED it. Now she lives in South Carolina....and absolutely HATES it. She's a freaking gypsy anyway....she'll be moving again soon...

    No problem at all Hech

Albuquerque can get hotter than hades, but you have to remember that we're higher than Denver, Colorado and being high desert means that even in the hottest part of the summer, it still drops to the mid to upper '60s at night, so things do cool down rapidly once the sun sets. In the late spring and early fall it's not unusual for us to have 45 or 50 degree temp. swings between day and night. Phoenix and Las Vegas, probably our two hottest cities, don't cool down much at night. Phoenix has nights where it's over 100 at midnight

Well I did live and work in the Phoenix area. When working on the flight line, you had to keep your tools in the shade, or you couldn't pick them up to use them. Couldn't do much in the Summer daytime, but the Summer nights were perfect. Warm, but no humidity.
    Hello.
