  1. According to sapphire technology, their new "Theatrix" capture card will support 2-Channel Dolby Digital encoding (and MPEG-2 hardware encoding too)... seems VERY interesting.

    The chip DOES have MPEG-2 hardware encoding (according to ATI), but about the dolby part... well, I must admit I have no idea whether it will be software or hardware encoding. But I don't think anyone would complain if it is only software encoded; being able to encode directly to AC3 while capturing doesn't seem too bad (to a "compliant" AC3 file)

  7. ATI claims that the new chip can capture video and audio, so audio will not be captured by the audio card, but by the ATI card.
    BTW, even if it is software encoded AC3... well, it doesn't matter, does it?
