  1. Hi, I'm in possession of several very good quality Xvid files which won't play on my Philips DVP642 standalone player (the timer skips ahead in 10 or 20 second increments and never shows a picture). Seems to be an irregular problem since other Xvid files similarly encoded will sometimes play perfectly. Anyway, what tool can I use to convert these to DivX without them looking crappy? I've tried VirtualDub but am possibly using bad settings (I get a same-size output file but far inferior quality to the original Xvid file after using the DivX settings for VirtualDub found here: http://www.divx.com/divx/divxpro/guides/vdub.php).

Gspot tells me this: Xvid, 23.97fps. As I said, the quality, both audio and video, is great in either DivX player, WMP, or Nero Showtime, but they just won't play in the Philips. Any tips greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dr Divx.. if i ever have any trouble with xvid/divx files i just run it through drdivx and its fine..

i have that DVD player also and have one or two xvid files do that to me too..

Also make sure that you are closing the disk when done burning.. XVID file are very picky on that player.. if its not closed you will get all slorts of issues.. like no ff/rw or what ever..
