Rarely extras and never rewatch a movie or any part with directors commentary. I barely have time each day to scratch my balls let alone waste time with this.

  3. I love the extras...

I also watch a movie with the director's commentary if it's a good movie. If the movie is kinda sucky, then I usually don't

While I don't necessarily "love" the extras.......

If it is a good movie, I will watch them...how do you expect me to become a pornographer without learning some directing?

I watch the extras after I've saw the movie all the way through and have a little time to kill.

Depends on the movie. I'm usually interested in how things are made, whether it be a toaster or a movie. I usually have a better appreciation for what went into the making of that film, after watching the extra features.

    Yeah, me too.

I don't want to know how they did. It ruines it.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

  11. The 35th Anniversary Edition of Planet Of The Apes is packed with stuff on the bonus disc - the bonus disc is twice as long as the movie itself 8)

Only way it ruins it is that you haven't seen the whole 5 series, they go into detail on each movie and give the plots and endings away.

Other than that, you're missing out bigtime if you skip the bonus stuff completely.

I love when there's this much bonus material - they fill you in on how many times the stories changed and what scenes were cut and why things were cut out.
You also get to see early test shoots with other actors - doing a pre-movie before they shot the real one...to get studio approval.

It's interesting that so many movies that made so much money were originally turned down by so many studios.
No one wanted to make them or thought they'd make money.

Even the author of the book didn't think it would make a good movie.

So many scripts written before one finally sold and even that went through many changes as the movie went into production.

Also interesting that the sequels weren't thought up until each movie had been released....they really didn't know what to do with the story.

But it all just evolved as they went along.

So much details that I couldn't list 'em all.

You miss out on so many little things if you don't watch some of these things.

Only way it could ruin anything is if you don't want the illusion taken away...that is if you get that caught up in the movie and want it to be a fantasy...but even so, the bonus here seems to inspire more instead of taking anything away.

The bonus stuff helped me to appreciate the last two movies in the series more.
Also found out they were orginally too violent and the studio made the director cut much out to get a G rating.
They did make the cuts but it ended up getting a PG anyway.

You also get to know the cast much better and get their inside jokes...that you wouldn't know about if you hadn't seen the bonus stuff.

Not all bonus material is this indepth...actually wish more would cover this much.

To each his own...but theres a lot of great stuff there.

That's how I feel about the scifi/fantasy movies. If you look at Star Wars/Star Trek and Lord of the Rings you barely get a glimpse at the sheer effort that went into making them.

The Lord of the Rings Extended Editions are pure joy for documentary buffs. The volume alone is impressive. From all of the preproduction stills to the animatics. It's a truly hurculean effort to get these movies on to the screen. If you like movies its just rewarding to see the care and effort that goes into it.

It's kind of like watching the credits (which I do occasionally). You're paying tribute to those that gave a few years of their lives to the endeavor (or 30 if you're talking about Lucas and Star Wars ).

Yes. Bonus, very often. Not always,
    Example:
    Stargate SG1
Walking Tall (not a bad movie!)
    Star Wars

    Yes, commentary, but rarely.
    Examples:
    Family Guy commentary = crap.
Simpsons = okay, often funny, informative
    Stargate movie = great commentary
