  1. Just curious if there is much of a difference between the two. The 50 pack Fuji -R spindle I picked up at Best Buy last week was TYG02 and the 50 pack +R this week are YUDEN000T02. Thanks

Other than the fact that one is -R and the other +R? I'm not sure what else you'd want to know.

  3. I guess I was just wondering if there was a quality difference. Sort of like how some of the Ritek media codes differ from each other. I have used the TYG02 in the past and have been very happy with the quality. I am sure that I won't be disapointed with the YUDEN000T02.

I'm sure the quality is just fine on both. The question is, will the standalone player read both formats. Almost all new players will read both, while some older players can only read the - format......even if it says it won't...like my old Toshiba 1600.

  5. I have burned about 10 of each in the past few days and haven't had any problems. They all play well on my stand alone so I am satisfied

Taiyo Yuden TYG01 and TYG02 are the only two media IDs that my Panny standalone burns with absolutely no coasters.

I was getting the TYG01 (-R) as Maxell branded 4X, but got a batch of Maxell that were Ritek G04, which choked it. Now it's strictly straight TY for both the standalone and the Pioneer 107. I just bought 200 8X TYG02 the other day from Rima for $56/100

  7. Cap...Thanks for the heads up on the $56/100 TYG02. After reading a recent thread on preserving camcorder footage I have decided to save the avi's from the transfer of my VHS-C footage on DVD +/- R's for future processing. Up until now I had been editing, encoding and tossing the avi. I am going to begin archiving the avi's so I need to buy some more stock.

BTW...I have been using huffy for my caps...do you think I should use a DV codec instead? If so, where can I find one?

    Thanks

    babyboo,
You might want to read through this thread. It sounds germane to your project:

Then I would do a forum search for all the codec threads. There are bunches but if you search for the topics instead of the posts, you should be able to sort through the chaff easily enough

FWIW, I have heard many say the Huffy is the best codec.
