  1. I am using CCE 2.67 retail. For DVD2SVCD under Encoder it askes for location of CCE 2.5, so I don't know if DVD2SVCD works with CCE 2.67. Anyways, the error I get is this "video_open()failed", such that CCE cannot find "cce_video_information_file.vbf". I have read a few posts about this on this forum and on DVD2SVCD's forum over DOOM9, but none really answers the question. I could not find a log specific for CCE operations, but during the conversion process, I saw a pop-up window that appears to be writing/saving this "cce_video_information_file.vbf" file, but the next thing was this error poping up. I tried the same conversion with DVD2SVCD using CCE 2.5 demo instead, and the conversion went smoothly (except for that CCE encoder mark on the video). I read somewhere that EclCCE.exe is needed to work with CCE 2.67 TRIAL version because it doesn't work with ECL files, but does that also apply to retail version?

  2. The more I experiment with DVD2SVCD, the more I am convinced the problem is with DVD2SVCD, not with any of the encoders. There is an endless error messages of "open failed", "can't find this file", "can't open that file" problem. I went back to convert an AVI file to SVCD using DVD2SVCD, selecting TMPEGEnc as the encoder, and some "log error" came up and the whole process just sat idle for over 15 minutes. I then tried to convert the same DVD that I was successful with CCE 2.5 trial, using TMPEGEnc, hours later after ripping and analyzing the DVD, some error came up unable to find one of the m2v files. It's my understanding the filenames are fed by DVD2SVCD to these encoders.

dvd2svcd is designed to be used with the trial versions of cce ... my understanding ..

  4. Really?

So in order to use CCE to convert anything under DVD2SVCD, if it only works with the trial version, then all the converted clips would have CCE's watermark stamped on the right lower corner of the screen?

Did other people buy the retail version and could not work this with DVD2SVCD?

  6. I hate to keep replying to my own post, but I refuse to believe this problem is affecting only me. Here is the last log message I get when I tried to convert any AVI file to SVCD using DVD2SVCD with CCE selected as encoder:

"I/O error 103 The operation completed successfully"

There was nothing successful about this. The entire process just sits idle after that.

I also went back and tried to convert the same DVD I mentioned in my first post, this time the VAF file was not missing at all, I saw the file created and saved. CCE was able to do its job, but problem occurred at bbMPEG, some mp2 file was missing. The funny thing is looking back at DVD2SVCD log, it actually says the whole process was completed and the MPEG file was created, when it was not.

I was tempted to email CCE about the initial problem of unable to open the VAF file, but I think they would just blame it on DVD2SVCD.
