  1. What is the easiest way to create a new menu for a dvd? Or perhaps another way of looking at it is how can I take the dvd vob/mpg, use it in another program and have the video not get reprocessed? I made a video from a dv camera, but I want to redo the crappy menu.

I've been playing around with Ulead DVD Workshop, and it seems pretty nice for making a menu, but I don't want to reprocess the video again and I can't tell if it does or doesn't. I had it "import" the dvd, which pretty much just rips the chapters into individual mpgs. I just don't want to waste the time/lose any quality from the original.

Any advice would be great! thx!

-edit-oops, perhaps this should have gone into the dvd to dvdr forum... even though it's dvdr to dvdr. =\

TMPG DVD Author can import vob or mpeg files, so you can create a new DVD based on an "old" mpeg file and the processing time is fairly short (there's no recoding, just the time to rewrite the file in the target directory).

you could try using DVDauthorGUI and creating your own menu

you can then replace the original menu with the one you created leaving the original DVD intact
