  1. Hi,

I want to play my avi-videos made with a digital camera (Canon PowerShot A60) with a Philips DVP 720SA (3.1, 4.x and 5.x DIVX and Xvid compatible). I have burned a few jpg pictures and avi videos as data cd (on a CD-RW burned with Nero 6, latest updates), but the avi videos are not visible in the player menu (the jpg files are well visible).

Any idea, why it does not work?

  2. Maybe try the avi by itself? I assume you encoded the avi stream with Divx or xvid? Make sure you use standard settings when you encode.

  3. I have not changed the avi-video files made with my camera (no encoding etc.).
I have put the original non-changed avi video to a cd-rw disc....on my computer I can see both the avi and jpg-files. But on my TV only the jpg files are visible.

    Any idea?

There are several types of AVI files. DIVX is a compressed type of AVI and the AVI coming out of your camera is uncompressed. (At least it is on my Sony). I believe you are going to have to encode the file to MPEG or to DIVX AVI in order for it to play.

Look in the tools section for encoders.

  6. thanks to all,

I have a look to the tool section - video encoders, but there are so much and I am a newbie.
Which one would you prefer to solve my problem?

I have also Nero6 and there you can export videos using an encoder of your choice?
