DivX .avi to mpg and Gyplay on DreamCast

I have a .avi file in DivX form and I need to get it to play in my DreamCast (using Gyplay or a similar program). I tried it once and Gyplay came up with "Error2". Is there a place I can read Step-By-Step instructions? thanks!

I seem to recall this page had some good info.

Bear in mind that you cannot play divx's on the DC. You will have to convert the avi to an mpeg(1) or dat to play it. You'll most likely need 2 cds for the converted divx/avi

...when you convert the file - you should set the bitrate a bit lower than usual and th DC will play it much more smoothly than with a normal vcd.

I'd say the lower quality is made up for with the better framerate.
