  1. For lack of a better forum to put this question in, can any share their experience with, or point me to, a good website/CD/source for cheap/free sound effects or royalty free, non-copyrighted, or public domain music??

All the sites I've been to have been hit and miss or they've had small selections of files for downloading, or I spend gads of time listening to artists who don't fit my project.

I wouldn't be opposed to spending $50 or $100 on a good sound library if I had confidence that it wouldn't suck.

    Any thoughts??

    Thanks in advance!!!!

  3. I ended up finding a couple of good sources for things I thought I'd share:

    1) Music and good info on ethically downloading music- http://www.goingware.com/tips/legal-downloads.html

    2) http://www.archive.org/movies/prelinger.php - not so much music but some interesting public domain video to use as B roll, bumpers, etc...

I'll keep posting anything good I find.

    Hi harjo02,

    Sound effects:

    http://www.findsounds.com/
    http://www.audiolicense.net/
    http://www.stonewashed.net/sfx.html

I literally typed in "sounds effects" in Google and checked out these 3, but there were others...

  5. Yeah, I've been to tons of those types of sites but they are all copyrighted, a pain in the a$$ to navigate, or are just links to other bodily function sounds. (I wish I had a dollar for every fart wav I've come across).

I'm looking for simple, downloadable soundeffects without having to deal with webrings, popups, crap links, and half-baked 'collections' of sound effects.

Copyright free and simple. I don't think it exists but if it does, this is the collection of people to help me out.

I appreciate the effort and sentiment daamon but it isn't quite what I'm looking for.

It was worth a try... I should say that I looked those up recently and found them good candidates, not just as a result of your post (i.e. there was no sarcasm meant when I mentioned just typing "sound effects" in Google).

What sound effects are you after? Anything in particular?

for sound effects, you might want to check your local computer store - I regularly see 1, 2 and 3 discs sets of sound effects, either in .wav format or as regular audio files, for $5-10.
