Hello,
Are they selectable subtitles??? You could just turn them off.
If not you could run them through dvd shrink, rerip them and deselect the subtitles entirely (you'll get an output the same size as the original rip but without the subtitles - take up a lot of space).
Or you could use virtualdubmpeg2 and convert them to divx using a filter that would cover up the subtitles.
Of course, the EASIEST way is to RERIP them without the subtitles! You do still own the originals right????????

hmm...well its a .avi file I downloaded from bittorrent so its not a official dvd copy, so the dvd shrink idea is out the window...however do tell me about the filters...how do they work and where can I download it?

Please tread carefully with this subject techjunkie. You're on thin ice here. You haven't violated any forum rules yet, but I suspect if you keep discussing this, you will

Capmaster, appreciate the warning however its not ripped from an official DVD. Its just a video file of a foreign drama series taped off the air then put on bt for fans to dl. The subs are grammerly-incorrect and I just want to re-sub it.

Wow! Those ARE sloppy subs!

Hello,
In that case you can use virtualdub and delogo. It can be found by doing a net search for "delogo". You'll need to do a screen cap and highlight the subtitle. Then process it as you would any divx except it will remove the subtitles. (NOTE - it won't be perfect, it will remove them but leave a watery overmark). It's probably your best bet.
