  1. Hi,

Well I can now change the PIO to DMA, but now neither DVDDecrypter nor DVD_Lab will burn anything!

I use DVDDecrypter and all that happens is the bar which indicates the level of image burnt immediately runs to 100% then the cahce synchronises and I'm left with a useless disc.

    DVD_Lab simply shuts down.

Anyone got any experience of this? Anyone got any ideas.

  2. Oh boy you are having a bad time....
About all i can suggest is a reinstall of the burning software and the hope it picks up the drive.

  3. Hi iooi,

Sorted! The dma enabled drive was working after I played with it. Turns out the disc image I was trying to burn was corrupt :-0 I'm getting upto 6x on 4x discs and 8.2x on 8x discs.

    Now a happy bunny

Thanks to all for the help.

  5. Finally got my 108 to burn Ritek G05 in 8 mins. I want to experiment with fw 1.06 to burn Prodisc 4x at 8x, but don't know how to load 1.06 into my 108 b/c it is already got 1.14. Any idea on how to install 1.06 on 108?
to do this you need the original pioneer kernel for the 108 as well as the firmware that you need. check out http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?p=129268 for more info and help regarding this drive.

as for the DMA thing... i had similar problems when i first got my drive - and the fix? I upgraded the drivers of my motherboard chipset to the latest drivers and things were fine from then on. (Before doing this i had no DMA mode for my optical drives at all!)

  6. I cant see the point in downgrading the firmware when it works OK on the newer one...
IF the new firmware wont burn something faster than it says then the old one sure wont....

First off remember that not only is burn speed dependant on firmware but you must also have software that supports the full burning speed of your burner otherwise you could 5,000,000x dvd media in your 5,000,000x dvd burner and it might nor burn over 2x
The real answer lies in completely understanding the question!
