  1. no matter what i do when i write a dvd they never play back smothly or on all my players (i know they are compatable). however when i write a dvd on my girlfriends computer on the same media they play fine. can someone tell me what the hell im doing wrong???

    Possibilities:

    1) Her burner does a better job of burning without excessive errors. Possibly cheap media causing this. Burners have particular media brands and types they prefer. Every burner seems different, and the best way to discover which yours likes is to look around here for posts about media including your model number burner. Then try a few brands and see. Repeat as necessary

    2) Dirty lens in your burner causing marginal writes. This often-overlooked issue causes grief: the lens gets dusty and the power delivered to the media is less. If the media is marginal (read: Princo, CMC, many others) it could cause problems. Even with good media it happens. Get a CD or DVD Laser Lens Cleaner disc at Walmart, Target, etc. About $10.

    Either bad burns as described by Capmaster or your DVD players don't like the media you are using.

  4. its not the PLAYERS thats the problem, cos like i said i use the same media on my gfs computer and they play fine. i can only assume its my writer and this "media preference" ill have a look around and see what it likes

    Computers will play anything. I'll still back that it's your player with that media.
    If in doubt, Google it.
