  1. what is the way to do this?
    just select standard ISO in Nero and drop 3-4 divx on there?
    will my philips 642 play these from that format?

    Yes.

    Yes, as long as the Divx files doesn't use the QPEL and GMC features, and the audio is a suitable format.

    Nero (I use eXpress.....its easier & quicker)>Data Disk>Slap in the avi's>burn>job done.

    The Dvd will open in the player with a folder view of the DVD allowing you you to select the avi (or mpeg1, mpeg2, jpeg, mp3 etc) that you want to play...or at least thats how my Yamada works.

    And as <junkmalle> says just ensure that the avi's are compatible with your machine (like avi's with Xvid 1.~ encoding will NOT work on my Yamada).

    PS. The Yamada will not play VCD's or SVCD's cleanly (if at all), but it WILL play the same files when its just mpeg1/2 PERFECTLY...weird..but hey no more disk swapping...i just slap everything onto a DVD (extracting the mpeg files from any VCD/SVCD first tho').

    i jsut did a bunch to dvd t oDVD+R last night all avi some xvid some divx all files play fine on my 642. i have 24 shows on one dvdr.. (tv rips) i use nero express also.. as said.. just do a data disk and select all files with the pop up box and it will add them.. also as stated.. no qpel divx will work. ill xvid i have tried so far work fine as long as you close the disk.. do not use multi sesion. they will still play just strange qurerks.
