what is the way to do this?
just select standard ISO in Nero and drop 3-4 divx on there?
will my philips 642 play these from that format?

The Dvd will open in the player with a folder view of the DVD allowing you you to select the avi (or mpeg1, mpeg2, jpeg, mp3 etc) that you want to play...or at least thats how my Yamada works.
And as <junkmalle> says just ensure that the avi's are compatible with your machine (like avi's with Xvid 1.~ encoding will NOT work on my Yamada).
PS. The Yamada will not play VCD's or SVCD's cleanly (if at all), but it WILL play the same files when its just mpeg1/2 PERFECTLY...weird..but hey no more disk swapping...i just slap everything onto a DVD (extracting the mpeg files from any VCD/SVCD first tho').
