Lots of things in that picture can have a bad effect on the baby: Noise from the jackhammers, noise from the traffic, EMR from the power lines, car exhaust, insecticides from the neighbor's lawn, radon coming from the soil up through the foundation, formaldehyde fumes from the glue in the particle board her cabinets are made from, etc.

But it's PC to attack smokers, so that's what we have here :P

I meant 88888. You both have a bunch of 88888s.

TK - I also heard that drinking unfiltered tap water also causes low birth wieghts in cities. Ultra-low frequencies can affect a newborn, but they have to have a lot of direct exposure. She would have to be outside standing around the construction zone to get any noticable effect from it. I was living in Rochester, NY when our son was born. My wife was at home on bed rest. Our house was right under the flight path of the busiest runway. My wife was induced 10 days early because our son was growing to large for her to delivery normally. He came in at 9lbs. 2.4oz.

See that chick right there is proof that the bar needs to close before 2:30 am....you know as well as I do, nobody and I MEAN NOOOOOOOBody, banged her while he was sober, with or without the light on.

The picture of her smoking while pregnant is proof of an overly safe society. I garuntee that somewhere along in her life she swallowed the big marble (George Carlin)...some one saved her and now the gene pool is little more polluted than it would have been if some one would have just let stupid people die when the opportunity presented itself.

Damn safety concious people...in 15 years I'll be trying to explain to this parent why her child is struggling in math...and of course, it will be my fault, not because the tar and nicotine the embryo was subject to during development retarded it's mental processes or anything scientific like that

    ........bitch.

For all things mentioned above other than cigarettes, I'll concede that there is the POSSIBILITY that they can affect a healthy baby and may cause low birth weight. How many of them actually have a warning to that effect on the label???
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

I remember seeing a study like that. You only have to smoke 2 packs a day for 5 years, or something like that, and it takes 20 years for your body to recover. Your body rejects the tar through your pores like sweat, and it's an extremely slow process. It also causes adult mutations, most noticably in the facial area. It also affects women 4 times as much as men. They had a big documentary on it like 8 months ago on discovery health, too. Post a link if you can find it.
