My cousin, a smoker, got pregnant. A doctor told her..if she must do it just to not be stressed, smoking 1 or 2 cigarettes a day would be acceptable. The stress on the body from quitting can be worse then the stress of the baby being exposed to the smoke and all. Despite knowing this, every time I see a pregnant woman lighting up I lose a little more faith in mankind.

Once when I was on OB, a 17yo came in asking for a pregnancy test. I told her it wouldnt be necessary since she was in labor. Getting her history(on top of obviously no pre natal care) she told me she smoked 2 packs a day, drank daily, occational pot and coke during her pregnancy. I thought the baby was going to be fuuuucked uuuppp! Nope. Nice, pink, healthy baby. I feel bad for all the moms that try to do the right things and end up with messed up babies.

Either that was a politician I know of, or a normal person, depending on which end of the spine the butt was at.

That's very untrue. It's getting on the border of political satire, too.

You'll probably want to discuss futher at the Politik site, but read a bit on it at the below site. People who are against abortion are usually also against drug, alochol and tobacco use, or are looking to have it limited or extremely reglated.

This is a political thread and should be closed. If you have a problem with smoking, then take it up at politick.org. Health is inseperable from politics when it comes to smoking. Discrimination and name-calling against a woman because of her excerciseing her personal freedom choices is terrible and has no place here.
