  1. I am getting fed up wasting time and money on blank dvd’s. I have tried many methods but currently use AVI sync to extract the wav then use TMPENC express to convert my avi and wav to MPEG. Then I use Ulead to author and burn to DVD. The results visually are great and the audio is in sync however I always seem to get a section or sections of the dvd that freeze and seem to skip a section then the film resumes. If you then scan backyou can see the 2 second scene it skipped over so I know the full AVI is there. I do not know why this happens and it happens in both of my DVD players.

What can I do to solve the problem? I just want to be able to convert and burn decent error free films in the easiest possible way but cannot seem to do it.

    Any advice anyone?????

In all seriousness, if you experience these freezes in a number of different AVIs then we can probably look beyond the files themselves. Most likely IMO is the media you are burning on, and its playability with your DVD players. If you play the DVD in your computer's DVD-ROM, do they do the same thing ?

You really need to be on top of everything from the very first step when converting AVIs, particularly downloaded ones (which I assume is the case here). For the little amount of time it takes, it is well worth scanning for bad frames before you start re-encoding. The other advice I'll give is to try playing the MPEG once it has been encoded and see if you have any issues. Then play the VOBs and do the same. Basically check that everything is A-OK before burning, and only burn if job's right so far.
    If in doubt, Google it.

There is no absolute answer here, however a few things to make sure of along the way

    1. Scan for bad frames/corruption before converting the video and audio

    2. Always use the best quality -R disks that you can afford

    3. Where possible, test burn to a -RW first, and watch the movie from here. If all is well, copy this onto a -R to keep

    4. If this happens on every disk that you burn, then I would suggest there is more to this prblem than meets the eye. Have you tried playing the disks in another player ?

If it's happening on your standalone DVD player it's probably the DVD player. Does it do it when you play it using your computer? Try some different media or a slower burn rate.

    Use RW's for testing.....
