Recently, I've noticed there seems to be a desire to lock threads before they reach their inevitable conclusion. I have some concerns about this practice, and was wondering if we might open a discussion into the matter.
There seems to be a tendency amongst moderators to lock threads long before they've erupted into the hate and discontent we long-timers have come to appreciate. I personally have chosen to take a couple of days off from videohelp.com, only to find I've completely missed several opportunities to spread my love, as others here have come to expect. What good does a person like myself serve in this community if my best skills are left unused, simply because a moderator feels a few immature ******** can't act like adults for two full seconds?
I would therefore like to propose to you, Moderators and Administrators of videohelp.com, a new process by which to deal with such threads. We shall call this the Indolikaa Doctrine. I foresee it happening somewhat like this...
1) A thread becomes caustic when a crybaby member gets the notion their manhood has been crushed by another member who dared to voice a dissenting opinion.
2) The thread is identified as such by any member of this forum, and flagged for further action. Perhaps we could sticky a new thread entitled "Meltdowns in Progress" or something like that. At such time that a thread is nominated for this distinction, moderators would make the decision as to whether the thread requires such attention.
3) Threads that are progressing into meltdown stage would be moved to a read-only forum as a temporary measure. The parties involved would have their members status' suspended and their IP addresses restricted.
4) Indolikaa Khan would be contacted regarding the matter. A personalized version of the Indolikaa Special will be generated, along with a generous helping of Shut-The-****-Up, and administered accordingly. The meltdown thread would then be re-opened for read and write access, but the initial parties would remain in a no-post mode.
5) Veteran members of this site would be given the opportunity to expound upon these literary works, until such time as the necessary atmosphere has been created. At which point, the suspended members would be allowed to respond. If they have the gumption, that is...
6) Capmaster would be contacted when a) the thread has stabilized due in part to the fact that the member(s) in questions feel they cannot win, and b) it is determined he's just about ready to engage in a romantic evening with Dolly. The timing is critical; you don't just want to lock a thread, you want some pissed-off mod with a flagrant sense of self-denial to handle the task with the proper respect it deserves.
I believe you will find this method to be a workable compromise. Simply locking the thread only punishes the members who can count their testicles twice and get the same answer. With this method, the abusers get their dose of medicine in a manner that is consistent with the ******* personna many of them display.
Sincerely,
Indolikaa Khan
DISCLAIMER: Yes, this was meant to be funny. If you take this seriously, you probably cried during Bambi, too, but just to be sure I take everybody's feelings into account, please feel free to call my personal help line. The number is 1-800-EAT-SHIT. Otherwise, have a great evening.

I've always been in favor of suspensions. I haven't worked with phpBB since 1.x, but I know back then it had a suspension option. Instead of these yellow cards (which some wear like an invisible badge of honor), the second "card" could be a suspension.
And making fun of stiltman or his family of avatars should get you an immediate promotion to admin. -
I should probably forewarn some of our newer members that this thread is a form of satirical humor, and should not be considered an actual request for action by the staff of videohelp.com.
I have more subtle ways of getting their attention... -

Indo you posted "#3" or something like that, which was locked immediately. I too was saddened by the flaming opportunity that was taken from us
And I cried during Bambi...I still cry when I think about little Bambi's mother getting shot...Northcat is a sensitive soul and little understanding would be greatly ******* appreciated bitch. All be it that I was crying because I wasn't getting any of the deer jerky or venison steaks but still I cried -
Indo, send your comments to BJ_M. BJ_M, since you can please insert the comments into the locked thread as a favor to our grieving comrade.

the moderators will lock a thread when they feel it is getting out of hand, against the rules, or foul language is being used .... it is their discretion ...
if you feel it is in error -- pm the one who locked it explaining why -

RE: Reprehensible Behavior
I would like to bring to your attention certain conduct that I feel demeans the community here at videohelp.com.
If you would please notice the attached thread, I would like you to consider the conduct of BJ_M and how his posts affect my credibility here at videohelp.com. It is not unusual for others here to attempt the irony and sarcasm that I, Indolikaa Khan, have mastered over the years, and we normally applaud such attempts. However, I do not believe it is in the best interests of this community that someone be able to not only master the technique, but to display such skill that Indolikaa Khan looks like an also-ran. BJ_M has repeatedly demonstrated skills in this arena that are on-par with my own, and the demonstrations have led some to believe I'm not "all that".
Such a situation takes away from the aura and mystique that makes me who I am. The lessening of the ego-stroking effect cannot be underestimated. A fragile, self-righteous ******* like myself can only take so much before the id is completely and irreperably harmed. The consequences to both the community and society can be drastic. Whatever sanity remains can be forever disrupted, and no amount of lithium or air pressure can return the individual to the status quo.
I would also like to bring to your attention the conduct of Capmaster. However, due to the nature of this forum and the fact that not even I can afford to support such outrageous bandwidth charges, I will send you my concerns via Federal Express Worldwide. Their special pricing for palletized freight should be sufficient to cover the manuscript concerning his behavior.
Yours Truly,
Indolikaa Khan -

Capmaster locking an Indolikaa thread. That's like Rock Against Drugs, or Christians Against Christ.
(You do realize I will get even with Mr. Air Pressure 2004...) :P -

I once ordered vennison at a restaurant. The waitress didn't speak much English and asked the other guy what it was. She came and says "OK, who ordered Bambi?"!
