  1. I am using a AverMedia PCI Capture card and Virtual VCR using settings 352x240 29.970 and 320x240 25.00 with no compression..

when I use the default setting the audio delays seconds before the video and when I use 29.970 the video delays from the audio several seconds another issue is that avi files are very large, is there a way to compress this files in order to reduce the hard drive space... ? if yes is there a quality change if compressing the avi file... I have to use Virtual VCR without the video preview in order to get a better and non skip video.. if I used video preview while capturing I get a fast forward video.

    Thanks.

ps. if you know any other software to capture video better than this one please let me know.

this may not be much help but i use vitualvcr and find it the best capture software for my winfast vc100 card.i captured at 720x480 and used the huffyuv 2.2.0 codec with no frame drops.i also used onboard sound.i converted to mpeg2 using tmpgenc keeping 192k/s for audio.the burnt results to dvd are practically the same as the satellite i captured from.try iuvcr trial version and see if you think that would be more suitable for your card.

Have you tried the settings I suggested at the end of your last post related to this topic? They may help.

If you are getting lines when you have motion, that's probably just interlacing. It won't be a problem when you play it on a tv. As for your audio problem, if you have things set the way I suggested and it doesn't work, try playing around with the different audio settings on that same tab. Perhaps another setting will get rid of your problem, but I wouldn't know for sure because the setting that dynamically resamples the audio works for me to keep things in sync.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Actually, I just saw something in another thread that may help:

I used VirtualVCR for a short while when I moved over to XP from 98SE. Although I managed to do long captures at DVD settings and keep both video and audio in sync, I noticed that when the captured avi was encoded to mpeg with TMPGEnc, it threw everything badly out of sync. There was nothing I could think of to re-sync the file and I was about to buy a drive caddy and format a Win98SE partition and go back to my fantastic AVI_IO capture program, when I saw a nice Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150MCE for a mere £50 ($94 USA?)...
