  1. This is my problem. I've downloaded windows media files from a paid web site. When I view these files, I have to put in a username and password (These files are copy protected). I want to discontiue with this web site, but I still want to view these files. As soon as I stop with this web site, I will be unable to open these files. What I want to do is take these Windows Media Files and convert them to another format so I can watch them any time I want. I have tried a ton of other programs to try to convert these windows media files but with no success.
If there a program or another way of converting these files and getting rid of the copy protection.

    Thank you
    Corey

  2. I've got a great program for you that should do the trick. It converts wmv to avi. Its called Stoik Video Converter, and its free! As far as the avi video codec, I would recommend going with XviD, see www.xvid.org . Its a free open-source codec very comperable to DivX, and will encode your avi to a small file size with great resolution. Let me know if you have any further questions.

I've got a funny feeling that the protection is put on them for a reason - and I don't think circumventing copy protection goes down real well around here either

If the website wanted to allow you to keep the files after you stop paying, they wouldn't have put the username and password on them.
    If in doubt, Google it.
