    My computer just shut itself off. When I tried to restart, the monitor doesn't turn on and my motherboard just says failed cpu test. Any ideas?

    Sounds like overheating.

    If the cpu is fried, you will need a new one.

    If the cpu is not fried, put some thermal paste on the cpu and get a better heat sink fan.

    Also check to see if the heat sink fan is still seated properly.

    The computer has been running fine for a year. Maybe a bump could nock the fan or heatsink loose. The computer was running when it quite. I was loading anti virus software.

    Well the antivirus should have not caused a cpu failure.

    I would open the case and see if the heatsink is still seated properly.
