    HI,
I used Virtualdub to separate audio from video and therefore Mainconcept MPEG encoder to convert a divx to MPEG2. When I import the audio file during the authoring with TMPGencDVDauthor, I receive the following message:
    Illegal audio format.
    Illegal audio format.
For a standard DVD you can only use the following audio formats:
Dolby Digital (AC-3), MPEG-1 Audio Layer-2, or Linear PCM.

I tried also with DVDlab and I receive the same error message ( the format must be 48 Khz). A friend of mine suggested me to use a software to convert ( such as GoldenWave) and another one told me that also VirtualDub can convert the.wav file to the optimal format but how?????

    Thanks for your help

  2. What format is the audio you extracted from the AVI? (sounds like 44.1khz MP3). Besweet (freeware) will convert the audio to 48khz PCM or MP2. Both will be acceptable to DVD-Lab and Tmpgenc DVD author.

In HeadAc3he, there is an option to adjust the sampling rate.

It will convert your audio format to either Wav or Ac3.
