  1. I have a cheap laptop dvd/cdrw combo drive (QSI sbw-242). Using nero cd-dvd speed, I attempted an overburn test on a TY cd (not dvd). According to the test, it's capable of overburning to 94 minutes! Now, I know this isnt possible, because I tried it (hehe) and I could hear the laser mechanism struggling at the end (making a lot of noise) until it just stopped the burn process with an error. But why would the overburn test report this...?

    Hello,

Well I have several 99minute cd-r's so that might be what it was testing for. You can obtain 90minute and 99minute cd-r's so it's possible and I've done it several times. You can only squeeze 2-3 minutes tops extra on to a 80minute cd-r.

  3. Ah yes, I forgot to mention that this IS an 80 minute cd...it says it on the disk, and nero detects it as an 80 minute. Also, it only does this while burning at 24x. Any other speed goes to about 83 minutes.
