I have a DVD that I made (personal stuff) and would like to make copies to send to family. I've read all the info here..and have been using DVD xcopy and my internal DVD to make them. My question is..that I often have errors with the program..and wondered if I got another EXTERNAL DVD writer...if I'd be able to use it along with the current one?? I'm wondering if I can put the DVD to copy in the old one..and the blank one in the new drive..and make a copy that way?? I also have some dvd authoring software..but am not sure just what I'm doing.

    Hi Janruh,

If your original DVD is under 4.7GB (i.e. NOT Dual Layer) then here's the best way to copy it.

    Download DVDDecrypter.

Put your original DVD in your DVD Burner.

Open Decrypter and choose "Mode" = "ISO" & "READ"

    Copy to your Harddrive.

This will create one .ISO file on your PC.

Take out your original disc and replace with a Blank Disc in you burner.

In Decrypter choose Mode = "ISO" & "Write"

Browse (source) to the .ISO file on your Harddrive.

Copy the .ISO file to the blank DVD.

    Hey Presto !!

    Good Luck,

    Moonstomp.

  3. Since it's one you made yourself, you can copy the contents to the hard drive and then burn the files to the new disc, you don't need DVD X-Copy, since the content is not copy protected, just use whatever burning program you would normally use; just burn it as you would any other DVD.

I would recommend using dvdshrink and dvddecrypter as your ripping programs and use xcopy to wipe your feet with.

Shrink and decrypter are free and easy to use.
Xcopy is not free and sux.

Thank you all for your help! I used DVD Decrypter and it worked like a charm! I didnt realize the process was so easy since there were no copyright stuff on the DVD. Thanks!
