Im using these programs to do this video vegas tmpenc plus and dvd author now is there a way I can make a PCM audio that does not to much room becauce when I choose mpeg audio I have to go into my toshiba dvd player setup and change it from bitstream to PCM which is a bit of a pain.

PCM is uncompressed audio, I'm not sure there's a way to really make it smaller. That's what mpeg audio and Dolby Digital (AC3) do. There are several free AC3 encoders, besweet is one of them I believe, have you tried them?
