  1. a real newbie question: have just finished encoding with tmpgenc plus 2.5, now I have two files, a wav and a m2v. To be able to burn a playable dvd with these two files, is the next step to author them--in other words, do I need to purchase Authoring software for my next step? I already have bundled w dvd burner roxio 6 but that didn't work--would virtual dub do it, should I stick with tmpgenc and buy their authoring software or go with something like dvd lab?

I can thoroughly recommend TMPGEnc DVD Author - it has a 30 day trial so you could DL it, try it out, and purchase it later on if it meets your needs. It can take your M2V and your WAV and author your DVD (create the IFOs, BUPs abnd VOBs). Then all you need to do is burn, which you can do with its inbuilt burning tool, or use burning software of your choice.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Do you own version 1.5 or 1.6? Do you use the ac-3 plug in? I guess my real question would be will the ac-3 plug in work with 1.5 dvd author. This is the version I use and want the ac-3.

1.5. I don't have the AC3 plugin because I'm in PAL land and can use MP2, but it definitely works with 1.5 or 1.6.
    If in doubt, Google it.
