  1. Any help would be appreciated!

Purchased Avermedia Ultra TV PCI 300 card due to the fact that this card is listed as compatible on the Nero 6 ultra website. When I play 8mm camcorder there is no sound when using Nero 6 Ultra! Even captured, but no sound. There is sound when using Avermedia Softwares for TV controller and the capture/edit software that came with card . The sound does work for other applications in the Nero 6 software, such as cd, and dvd playing and other video that i captured by other ways. Volume controls all seem ok and cables OK. Line in is checked.
I would rather use Nero 6 to capture because the video and audio seem to be much better than NEOdvd software, and editing is better. You might ask, how do I know that audio sounds better? Well I tried another capture card that was not listed as supported on Nero website. Picture and sound was great, but video stopped working after 8 minutes, each time, I tried it,so I got rid of that card . Also used an external usb capture device. That produced a yellow color in background!! This has been a nerve killing expeirence!!

Thanks for any help, Larry K

It looks like this card uses the PC sound card for audio capture. Make sure your advanced audio properties have "line in" selected and the volume is turned up.

You need to select "line in" as the recording source in the advanced audio properties (double-click speaker icon in system tray or go to the advanced properties from the Sounds applet in Control Panel).

This is an inexpensive card, and relying on the PC sound card is a sync nightmare waiting to happen. You will probably find that on long captures you'll see a drifting of the lip-sync until it becomes like a cheaply dubbed movie. Sometimes you luck out with these cheap devices.

ADS marketed an early one called USB Instant DVD that also used this type of audio capture. I had the misfortune of owning one of those. I just hope you have better luck than I did.

And the Capturing forum is more appropriate for this thread so I'm moving it.
