Staples has Maxell 15-spindles of DVD-R or DVD+R on sale this week for $9.94 (guess that works out to .66 each).
They are 4x media, but are very high quality if you get the ones made in Japan.

Every 15 pack I have ever seen was Made in Japan. As soon as I get done reading the paper, I am there.

*Just got back, all the 15 packs are labeled "Made in Japan" and show up as MXL RG02 as the Media ID code.

THe bad thing about Maxell is that it's a toss-up whether you get Taiyo Yuden media code TYG01 (pro-quality), or Ritek G04 (merely good quality). I don't know about the 15 spindles since I don't ever buy less than 100, which has come in either two 50-spindles or four 25-spindles. I once bought a ten-pack of the Maxell w/cases, but that was to evaluate the media. It was TY.

Like piano632 said, look for the "Japan" mark. It means it'll be the TY media and not the Ritek Taiwan media.

Actually that's Fuji +R period, whatever speed(s) the store has in stock. Could be 2.4x, could be 4x, could be 8x, and included in that 8x is Taiyo Yuden media.

Ordered 8 bundles Mon. morning... UPS delivered Tues. morning. Free shipping and $15.00 off on-line coupon for $75.00 purchase and they are Yellow top, made in Japan, MXL-RG02 as sullen stated.
    Coupon good thru this month.
    .54 cents each.

  10. I picked up a spindle of the Fuji -R last week and a spindle of the +R yesterday from Best Buy. Both were 8x TY's...with the rebate (assuming they actually honor it) it works out to around 55 cents apiece (with NYS tax). Even without the rebate 65 cents for 8x TY is not a bad deal.
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space.

  12. I had to look around to see if posting that info was ok here. I did see others doing it so if it's ok here goes. These may be one time use , not sure. If any problems posting this, Mods... please inform me. As I said I searched and read and saw other posts mention coupons.

    Coupon Code 6478040822443871
Use number only and it may be a one time use or expire today. Sorry, "hoangh" I am only online late at night...
Before any order I search google for Staples, Office Depot, Shop4tech, etc. coupons. You'll hit places like "fatwallets" or "xpbargains" and sometimes find 10% or more coupons. Unfortunately some sites never offer checkout coupons.
    Good Luck!

I tried both coupons but the window poped up show" We are sorry. The coupon code you entered has already been used and may only be used once. Please remove it from the field below".
I will wait for next time. Thanks for your help.

Sorry about that. I guess I got lucky.
Keep an eye out at Fat's place and Xpbargains. More will come around.

How about real TY available for .58c....all the time. No coupons, no rebates (that never come anyway), no driving ($$$), no watching ads, no standing in line, no wasted trips, no danger of Taiwanese media subs, no digging through piles of Taiwanese media boxes looking for the couple of Japanese made boxes, etc.

  16. 58 cents is a good price, but you have to buy 100. I don't need to buy that many at a time, so sales on 15-25 packs is perfect for me. Most b/m retailers are on my way home so its easy to drop by.

I haven't seen anyone online that sells TY branded media in 25 packs.

You can go to www.salescircular.com which lists the sale prices from major retailers, so you don't need to go ad hunting.

  18. Yes, TY= Taiyo Yuden.

The price of dvd media is dropping pretty fast so don't buy more than you need because the next time you buy its gonna be a lot cheaper.

TY is supposed to be putting copy protection on their disks soon.

I agree OWP, but I wanted to try the MXL RG02 "Maxells" as all the other Maxell's I've come across were TY's. And my price after the "instant" online coupon...(No waiting)...was cheaper than the Rima .58c. Actually was .54c.
No biggy as it was probably a one time "check it out" for me and back to RIMA is for sure.
    Cheers...NL

"handyguy", how do you copy protect a media made to copy??? Is it like a one time copy meaning you cant copy the copy?
